Our Work in the Community

Here are some of the amazing people, organizations and initiatives that the Delta Community Foundation has supported.

We’re proud to support the work that you do.

Together, we are making Delta stronger, forever.

Starfish Pack | 2024 Community Prosperity Fund Recipient

“This grant could not have been better timed, as with the growing food prices and inflation, we were working hard to fundraise and keep our costs down. We are serving 60+ students now which means that our yearly costs are around $45,000 per year. Through generous grants like this, we can ensure that the Starfish Pack program will continue for years to come. We are incredibly thankful that the Delta Community Foundation selected us as one of the recipients of this award and we are so thankful to be a part of this wonderful community that supports the work that we are doing for students and families.” – South Delta Baptist Church, Starfish Pack Program

Better Cause Society | 2024 Community Prosperity Fund Recipient

“This program has been a cornerstone of our efforts to assist underprivileged families in furnishing their homes. Thanks to this grant from the Delta Community Foundation, which will be used to cover furniture storage and operational costs, we can continue providing critical support to those in need. We have recently supported families in collaboration with the Elizabeth Fry Society, Surrey Women’s Centre, and the South Asian Community Hub, assisting them in creating more comfortable and stable living environments. The Delta Community Foundation’s contribution will make a significant impact, and we are deeply appreciative.” – Director, Better Cause Society

Delta Firefighters Charitable Society | 2024 Community Prosperity Fund Recipient

“We are so grateful for the support of the Delta Community Foundation as we continue to provide nourishment for students across Delta with our ‘Healthy Snack Program.’ This program has grown to include more than 1500 students, and the financial assistance provided from the Community Foundation is crucial in ensuring these children get the nutrition they need to thrive on a daily basis. Our Charitable Society believes ‘our community is what we make of it’ and we feel so fortunate to work in this incredible community.” – Delta Firefighters Charitable Society

REACH Child & Youth Development | 2024 Community Prosperity Fund Recipient

“Reach Society applied for funding from the Community Prosperity Fund (CPF) grant through the Delta Community Foundation to support Delta Housing Be Mine Society’s mission to help local adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities seeking affordable and inclusive housing in Delta. Many of the young people seeking inclusive housing through Delta Housing Be Mine Society (DHBMS) are graduates of Reach Society programs and services. The funding will allow DHBMS to contract a program coordinator who will assist in communications and events that help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities be independent and thrive.” – REACH Child & Youth Development Society

Delta Stroke Recovery | 2024 Community Prosperity Fund Recipient

“Delta Stroke Recovery Society is thrilled to receive funding through the 2024 Community Prosperity Fund. For over 25 years, our mission has been to provide recovery-appropriate programs, resources, and compassionate support, empowering Delta’s stroke survivors and their families on their recovery journeys. These funds will support the continued development and expansion initiatives of professionally-led programs such as speech language pathology, aphasia conversation groups, all-abilities fitness, cognitive activities, and caregiver support, and will enable us to serve a greater portion of the North Delta community.” – Delta Stroke Recovery

Latino Workers Support Society | 2024 Community Prosperity Fund Recipient

“While we’ve supported workers for years, formalizing as a charity makes this recognition a significant milestone for us. This funding will ensure the continuity of essential services that enhance the emotional and spiritual well-being of over 600 Latino temporary foreign workers in Delta. LWSS offers English classes, faith-based gatherings, social activities, soccer, and personal support, as well as translation assistance, medical support, and essential items like clothing, food, and bikes. The funding also allows us to strengthen our connection with the community, donors, and volunteers, creating a rewarding and engaging experience for everyone involved.” – Latino Workers Support Society

Crossroads United Church | Food Security, Emergency Shelter, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Programs | 2024 Community Prosperity Fund Recipient

“With this grant, Crossroads United Church is able to offer ongoing and expanded programs to the most vulnerable in North Delta: monthly free community dinners (Community Dinner), twice monthly distribution of free fruits and vegetables (Community Harvest), an outdoor 24-hour free food cupboard (Nick’s Nook), support for refugee newcomers through the North Delta Refugee Program, and space improvements for our inclusive women’s extreme weather shelter (in partnership with WINGS). Centrally located on the Scott Road corridor in North Delta, these programs offer much-needed nutrition, practical support, safety and hospitality in reliable and trustworthy ways to children, families, seniors, newcomers to Canada and insecurely-housed women.” – Crossroads United Church

St. David's House | 2024 Community Prosperity Fund Recipient
