Better Cause Society

Better Cause Society helps families turn their houses into homes. Their goal is to reduce the impact of used furniture being dumped into our landfills by repurposing it to people who are in need that have a living space, but no furniture.

“This program has been a cornerstone of our efforts to assist underprivileged families in furnishing their homes. Thanks to this grant from the Delta Community Foundation, which will be used to cover furniture storage and operational costs, we can continue providing critical support to those in need. We have recently supported families in collaboration with the Elizabeth Fry Society, Surrey Women’s Centre, and the South Asian Community Hub, assisting them in creating more comfortable and stable living environments. The Delta Community Foundation’s contribution will make a significant impact, and we are deeply appreciative.” – Director, Better Cause Society

South Delta Baptist Church | South Delta Starfish Pack Program

The Starfish Pack Program, run by the South Delta Baptist Church, supports Children & Youth  by providing children with backpacks of nutritious food to take home over the weekend.

The Starfish Pack Program provides food for children over the weekend. Hundreds of students go to school Monday morning having had no food over the weekend, donations to Starfish Pack Program help change this.

Grant Recipient Impact Statement

This grant could not have been better timed, as with the growing food prices and inflation, we were working hard to fundraise and keep our costs down. We are serving 60+ students now which means that our yearly costs are around $45,000 per year. Through generous grants like this, we can ensure that the Starfish Pack program will continue for years to come. We are incredibly thankful that the Delta Community Foundation selected us as one of the recipients of this award and we are so thankful to be a part of this wonderful community that supports the work that we are doing for students and families.” – South Delta Baptist Church, Starfish Pack Program
