Join the Delta Community Foundation board!

We are excited to be recruiting new board members!

Background

Delta Community Foundation is looking for motivated, community-minded people from North Delta, Ladner and Tsawwassen to join our board for a three year term. We are a volunteer working board, who  dedicate our time and expertise to support the organization and its mission and collective purpose.

Through the generosity of our donors, we fund initiatives, charities and non-profit organizations operating in sectors such as mental health, education, arts, culture & heritage, children & youth, environment, food security, Indigenous initiatives, neighborhoods, seniors and more.

Skills and Competencies

We are looking for mission-aligned individuals with qualities that have been prioritized by the board; such as strong collaboration, communication, implementation, strategic skills, a commitment to DEI, and expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Investment
  • Fundraising
  • Governance
  • Legal

We are publicly recruiting for board positions to ensure that we move beyond our immediate networks and honour our ongoing commitment to creating a board that is diverse in its composition, inclusive in its culture, and equity-focused in its approach to how it views its mission, its work, and the communities it serves.

Expectations of Individual Board Members

We expect each board member to:

  • Know the organization’s vision and mission.
  • Faithfully attend monthly meetings with anunderstanding of the organization’s board materials, including financial statements, in advance of meetings.
  • Willingness to take the role of Ambassador, Advocate or Asker to the Foundation’s external networks and circles of influence.
  • Help identify personal connections that can benefit the organization’s fundraising and reputational standing.
  • Prepare for, attend, and conscientiously participate in board meetings.
  • Participate fully in one committee.
  • Engage in learning opportunitiesand attend events to better understand  and get to know the community your organization serves.
  • Respect the experiences of all who bring their voices and lived experiences on to the board and the organization.
  • Honour our values.

Canada Student Job – Admin & Marketing Assistant – Thank you to all who applied, the position has been filled.
Are you a student looking to gain valuable experience in admin and marketing? The Delta Community Foundation is hiring a student for a remote work opportunity this summer, approx 30 hrs a week, May-August. The student will help with various administrative functions and events.

Job requirements: Open to students w/ high school diploma, strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Google Workspace, WordPress, Acrobat Pro), Effective Communication Skills.

Position Description:

Position commences June 17, 2024
Job Type: Temporary, Part-time
Contract length: June-Sept, 30 hours/week
Work location: Remote
Rate: $24/hr

General Admin:

  • Support the administrative needs of board members in their committee work.
  • Help to organize committee meetings and agendas.
  • Check emails, respond or redirect to the appropriate person.
  • General office duties (ordering, printing, scanning, filing).
  • Assist with data entry.
  • Update spreadsheets using Excel, Googlesheets.
  • Update Keela database.
  • Organize DCF Google Drive to reflect the needs of the organization, ensure documents are up to date, old documents are removed and files are accessible to the board.
  • Creating a tutorial for board members showing them how to set up DCF email accounts to access DCF Google Drive.
  • Website updates-creating new pages and updating existing pages.

Marketing:

  • Work with marketing team to implement digital marketing plan.
  • Set up digital analytics for website.
  • Coordinate monthly newsletters through Keela database.
  • Distribute press releases.
  • Organize photo presentations with donors, grant recipients, board.
  • Format and assemble governance manual.

 Nominations:

  • Work with committee to produce orientation package.
  • Create Power Point board orientation presentation.

Community/Events:

  • Help organize and attend events.
  • Work with Volunteer coordinator to determine needs of events and organize collateral as needed.
  • Attend the Ladner Business Association Expo on June 8.

Job Requirements:

Minimum High School Diploma.

Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, Canva, Google Workspace, WordPress, Adobe Acrobat Pro).

General knowledge of any accounting program is an asset.

Effective communication skills (verbal & written)
