Do you love where you live? The Delta Community Foundation is looking for motivated, community-minded people from North Delta, Ladner and Tsawwassen to join our dedicated group of volunteer board members.
Do you have a background in one of the following areas: fundraising, administration, marketing and social media, technology, finance or event planning? Do you enjoy connecting people and bringing like-minded individuals together? We administer grants and endowments, support local initiatives and give back to the community we live in. We are looking for a commitment of 5 -10 hours per month, and you will get to work with some of Delta’s most dedicated volunteers.

Julie Berks has retired after a long career of senior management roles in the financial services industry. She hopes her strong management, communication and project management skills will assist the Foundation to achieve its goals. She has lived and raised her family in Tsawwassen for the past 50 years and has worked for several societies and charities, including a current role on the board of Kin Village.
Perminder Bath has been a Delta resident for 43 year and has spent most of this time in Ladner where she and her husband raised their two children.
She recently retired from a 28 year teaching career where she specialized in high school career education and work experience programs. Perminder is a strong advocate of promoting volunteering within schools and the broader community and she has helped integrate volunteering into her high school co-op programs. Perminder has strong family ties in Delta and would like to see this city continue to grow and flourish.
Ammen Dhillon is a registered clinical counsellor at the Surrey Women’s Centre. She also runs a private practice in pursuing a long-held passion to work with individuals in mental health. She has a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology. She also holds a PhD in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry and has worked for 13 years as a biotechnology scientist. Ammen lives in North Delta with her husband and children. She values healthy and thriving communities and has provided culturally sensitive mental health awareness to various audiences, coaches soccer, monitors kids in the Delta School District. She is a long-time member of the North Delta Potters Guild.
Sharon has lived and raised her family in Tsawwassen for over 40 years. Following a career in the non-profit sector, she chooses to spend her retirement years giving back to her community. Her previous work in senior management roles in health charities included MS Canada, the Arthritis Society and the Kidney Foundation. Sharon is a founder of Heron Hospice Society of Delta and has served on many boards including KinVillage, Make-a-Wish Canada and Delta Community Living Society. She hopes that her skills and enthusiasm to serve can benefit the Delta Community Foundation.
Stephanie Gibbs is a Writer and International Sales Executive for Canada Post, consulting for major brands with marketing and eCommerce business in Canada. She is passionate about community involvement and has spent more than 15 years volunteering with various non-profits, such as Minerva, the Vancouver Police Foundation, and the B.C. Crisis Centre. She has a business degree in entrepreneurship, a business management diploma, and a variety of professional certifications.
Andrea Hayward is an accomplished business executive with a robust track record in finance, operations, and strategic development. Currently serving as a Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary, Andrea oversees international business operations with expert operational leadership and financial management.
Beyond her corporate achievements, Andrea is deeply committed to community service. A life-long equestrian, she has contributed to the betterment of the community through various board roles. Her non-profit experience is complemented by her active involvement in Clubs where she has fostered stronger community relationships and fundraising initiatives.
Victoria "Vicki" Huntington served as an independent MLA in the BC Legislature from 2009 until 2017. In 1993, she was elected to Delta Municipal Council and returned to Council in four subsequent municipal elections. In Ottawa she worked with the RCMP Security Service in Ottawa for most of the 1970s and then served as executive assistant to two federal ministers. She has also served as band manager for the Gitanmaax Indian Reserve in Hazelton.
Millie and her family reside in Ladner, enjoying the warmth of a welcoming and supportive community. Millie has held senior leadership roles in global financial services, non-profits, and the public sector. She has advised Fortune 500 companies on investment strategies and managed investment projects and operations, and driven international market expansion.
She has volunteered to serve new immigrant children and supported organizations like Junior Achievement and the Canadian Cancer Research Fund in leadership roles. Millie aims to leverage her professional expertise and philanthropic passion to amplify the Delta Community Foundation’s impact.
Gillian grew up in Tsawwassen and is now raising her family here. Gillian worked in the Canadian television production industry for 20 years, as COO and owner of Force Four Entertainment. She most recently worked as Director of Operations at KidSafe Project Society for 3 years, which provided programming and meals for kids when schools were closed for holidays. Gillian is very passionate about giving back and is excited to be part of the dynamic team at Delta Community Foundation.
Carlene Lewall was co-founder, coach, executive director and builder of Delta Gymnastics Society (1979 – 2017). Her passion is to make a difference in the lives of children by developing self esteem through physical literacy, belonging and knowing that people care for them. Carlene is also chair of KidSport Delta and board member of the Ladner Business Association, Tourism Delta and Delta Sport Hall of Fame. She loves Delta and wishes to see it grow and prosper in all areas.
Gail Martin spent early adulthood in Tsawwassen and has lived in North Delta since 1973 where she raised her now adult children. Having worked for 34 years at Telus, she retired in 2002. Among her many contributions to the Delta community are Conquer Cancer canvasser, school Parents Advisory group and Sur-Del Scouts Canada, among others. She has also served as a member of the Delta Family Court Committee, Delta Community Services Advisory Committee, Delta Healthy Communities Committee, Delta Area Planning Committee, Delta Police Board, Delta Police Foundation, BC Labour Relations Board and, most recently, the Boys and Girls Clubs of South Coast BC. She has also been a member of the Finance Committee at Crossroads United Church where she has provided congregational outreach during the pandemic.
Richard Shantz retired after working in the investment industry for 48 years as a Vice President and Director. He worked in senior management positions and as an Investment Advisor.
Richard has been active in the communities he has lived in and has been recognized for his volunteer efforts by the Governor General of Canada. He was awarded the Sovereign Medal for Volunteers.
Richard has been honoured by Rotary with a Paul Harris Fellowship and is currently a member of the Rotary Club of Ladner.
Val is a resident of Ladner and is enthusiastic about local causes. She has 15+ years of fund development experience at UBC, raising funds for endowments, student awards and research. Val believes philanthropic support can empower individuals and create engaged communities. She current serves as a director for the Ladner Community Garden Society. Her interests include combining local/international travel with long distance walking and sustainable gardening.
Our Staff
Dalyce Wickett joined the Delta Community Foundation in 2021 in the part time role of Administrator. Until this time, the Foundation had been managed by an operational board of directors. Dalyce feels very fortunate to live and work in the community she calls home, to benefit ‘the charity for all charities’. She brings with her over 21 years of experience in private and non profit sectors in a variety of Communications roles. Dalyce is excited to join the Delta Community Foundation as it grows to meet the needs of even more individuals and charities in Delta.
The Delta Community Foundation is excited to welcome Georgia Hoar into the position of Marketing & Administrative Assistant. Georgia will be working with the Administrator and board to accomplish many administrative, marketing, event planning, and digital media tasks. Georgia holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management. A long-time resident of Tsawwassen, she is eager to apply her creative marketing skills to benefit the Delta Community Foundation.
