Delta Rise Community Garden, in North Delta, improved its facility by providing equipment to those who may not have had their own, purchasing a potting table to help those with mobility concerns and those with larger harvests to more easily sort through their crops, and to make it easier to use the gardening hose. Funding for these improvements came from the Delta Community Foundation’s Neighbourhood Small Grants program, sponsored by the Vancouver Foundation.

Project Leader Lisa Dearmin said the garden was not properly equipped when constructed so the funding to help enhance the area was “so great!”

She says, “I was surprised and pleased to see residents using the bench as soon as it was put together. I had not previously been familiar with these and was often sorting my harvest on the small ledge around the garden. It was a welcome addition to the gardens. Thank you to Delta Community Foundation’s Neighbourhood Small Grants for making this possible!”
