Homeless people in the community needing a little extra during the coming months ahead and into the Fall will receive gift cards, food and help if they come to the door of the Ladner United Church and Delta’s Emergency Response Shelter with the help of a $1,000 Covid19 Relief Grant from the Delta Foundation, Delta’s community foundation.

In the last three months this extension of the Extreme Weather Shelter, beyond the normal cold weather season, has been helping homeless during this pandemic, when there has been no availability for them to seek any kind of refuge.

Shirley Baker, Coordinator of the Shelter, said that it had been a blessing for Ladner United Church to continue to offer this space with the help of the emergency funding from the Delta Foundation and other sources, and the volunteers and community providing support during this challenging and difficult time. With the exception of two nights, the Shelter has received guest every night.

Funding for the Covid19 Relief Grant comes to Delta’s community foundation from the Vancouver Foundation.
