The Delta Community Foundation is pleased to support mental health initiatives in Delta. A recent grant of $2000 was made to the Step Forward Health Society, an organization that provides mental health support to individuals, couples and families. Mental health support is offered through qualified mental health counsellors, information and group support programs.

“The Step Forward Program was started with the hope to ensure that money does not get in the way of people receiving the help and care they need for their mental health. Financial barriers can often prevent people from seeking help, and we are grateful to the Delta Community Foundation for their support of our program because we know it is going to help so many people!” – Meg Neufeld, President, Step Forward Health Society.

‘The Delta Community Foundation board are strong advocates of organizations that support mental health programs in Delta. Grants, such as this one, enable citizens within our community who need mental health support to access it in a timely and affordable way. The Step Forward Health Society offers professional counselling services to individuals and families in Delta and we are proud to support this organization’, says Gail Martin, Delta Community Foundation Chair.

About Step Forward Health Society

The Step Forward Health Society runs two main programs in Delta – 140 Sports and the Step Forward Program. 140 Sports was started to use sports to teach youth skills to manage their mental health and to create a healthy community around wellbeing in youth sports. The Step Forward Program was started in 2015 to provide subsidized mental health services to community members with demonstrated financial need. It has been the joy of the society to have provided over $500,000 in subsidized mental health services since its inception. The goal of both programs are to bring mental health training and services to the community and ensure that money does not get in the way.
