BC and Alberta Guide Dogs is a non-profit charitable society, based in Ladner, which breeds, raises and professionally trains Guide Dogs for individuals who are blind or visually impaired, Autism Support Dogs, for children 3 to 10 years and their families, and Service Dogs for veterans, first responders and RCMP members suffering from Operational Stress Injury or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, all at no cost to the client.
Each fully trained guide dog or service dog enables each client to live a fulfilling and productive life.
Members of the public may make donations to the capital of the Fund, which will be retained in perpetuity on the same basis as the initial cash infusion of $10,000. The Foundation will issue tax receipts to donors based on the principal amount they donate to the endowment fund.
BC and Alberta Guide Dogs CEO Bill Thornton says, “We have been enormously blessed through the generosity of others. Supporting Delta Community Foundation is just another way BC and Alberta Guide Dogs can give back.”
“We respect the vital work of BC and Alberta Guide Dogs and the confidence it has placed in the Delta Community Foundation,” says Foundation President Gail Martin. “We will apply the many years of knowledge and experience in the investment industry, as represented by some of our board directors, to ensuring the endowment fund is effectively administered and grows over time to serve the needs of the society through interest generated from the fund long into the future. We are proud to be associated with Delta-based BC and Alberta Guide Dogs.”
