Grant, Neighbourhood Small Grant

Sunshine Hills Community Virtual Garden Show in North Delta provided a chance for local residents to connect in a different way through displays of their gardens, with support from the Neighbourhood Small Grants program.
Continuing with the success of last year’s show, organizers aimed to create a virtual event that would be available to everyone in the community. They used Facebook as a platform and created a separate group specifically for the show and posted on the main Sunshine hills community group page, Instagram and the Next Door App. Darrell Poetker-ReMax Performance Realty provided some advertising and the North Delta Reporter ran a story.

Some of the prizes were purchased from North Delta Artisan & Gift Market vendors.  Many volunteer hours were invested in the show.

The show’s leader, Sharon Poetker, says, “I was really pleased with how it turned out. I appreciated having the grant money to work with. Prizes definitely added a fun element.”
